HELEN SHORE NURSING ENDOWMENT FUND

Description
The proceeds of the Helen Shore Nursing Endowment Fund will support nursing research at the University of British Columbia. The fund is primarily intended to enhance research in nursing care related to adults, especially senior adults, living with chronic conditions. Budget requests may be up to $3,000.

Eligibility
Preference will be given to Master of Nursing students, then Ph.D. nursing program students as well as tenure track nursing faculty during the pre-tenure period.


KATHERINE MCMILLAN DIRECTOR'S DISCRETIONARY FUND

Description
This fund provides support for nursing research in any area. Preference will be given to projects that have not received funding from other sources and to new investigators or faculty investigators embarking upon new areas of study. Budget requests may be up to $3,000.

Eligibility
UBC School of Nursing faculty including tenure, tenure-track and continuing appointees; Joint and adjunct appointees are eligible if collaborating with School of Nursing faculty or students as co-principal investigators or co-investigators; Students in the School of Nursing. No investigator can concurrently hold more than one SON research grant as principal investigator or co-investigator with the exception of those in a supervisory role with students.


LOGAN M. FINDLAY FUND

Description
This fund provides support for nursing research, specifically for the study of issues related to respiratory health and illness. Budget requests may be up to $3,000.

Eligibility
Students in the School of Nursing.


LYLE CREELMAN ENDOWMENT FUND FOR PUBLIC HEALTH RESEARCH - NEW!!

Description
This fund provides support for research in public health in all of its forms including screening, early intervention, disease surveillance, health promotion, disease prevention, fostering self-care, and community empowerment. Budget requests may be up to $3,000.

Eligibility
Students in the School of Nursing as well as tenure track nursing faculty during the pre-tenure period.


SHEENA DAVIDSON NURSING RESEARCH FUND

Description
This fund provides support for research in nursing, specifically for the study of issues related to childbearing women and their families. Budget requests may be up to $3,000.

Eligibility
UBC School of Nursing faculty including tenure, tenure-track and continuing appointees; joint and adjunct appointees are eligible if collaborating with School of Nursing faculty or students as co-principal investigators or co-investigators; students in the School of Nursing. Preference will be given to faculty who are new investigators or faculty investigators embarking upon new areas of study. No investigator can concurrently hold more than one SON research grant as principal investigator or co-investigator with the exception of those in a supervisory role with students.


Review Process:
A sub-committee will be established to oversee the reviews and adjudication process. The principles of ethical peer review will be upheld in structuring the review process.

Notification of Awards
Recommendations will be submitted to the Director, School of Nursing. Successful applicants will be notified. Funds are awarded for a ONE-YEAR period.
