Master of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner - Admission Requirements & Application Process
Admission Requirements
The School of Nursing invites interested registered nurses to consult with the Program Coordinator, Carol Jillings, about their eligibility for the program and the application process. The Faculty of Graduate Studies sets the minimum requirements for admission to all graduate programs at UBC. In addition to meeting these requirements:
- applicants must be nurses registered in the province of BC
- have 2-3 years of clinical nursing practice;
- commit to full-time, on-campus study; and
- demonstrate, through a personal interview, the readiness and motivation to begin a new professional challenge;
Application Deadline
The application deadline is January 31st for admission the following September. International students must consult with the program advisor regarding eligibility and BC licensure requirements before completing an application.
MN-NP Program - How to Apply
There are five steps to admission to the MN-NP Program at UBC:
- Apply online
- Submit supporting documents to the Nursing Graduate
Records Office
- two sets of official transcripts from each post-secondary institution you have attended or are presently attending (Transcripts must be submitted in endorsed sealed envelopes to be considered official.)
- three letters of reference that describe your ability for excellence in clinical performance and readiness to adopt more independent practice;
- evidence of eligibility for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of BC
- Applications will be reviewed by the UBC School of Nursing Admissions Committee (MN-NP) and the Faculty of Graduate Studies
- Outstanding applicants who meet the minimum eligibility requirements will be invited to an interview
- All applicants will receive formal notification of their admission status from the Faculty of Graduate Studies and from the School of Nursing
