WOUND CARE WORKSHOP Over sixty UBC Nursing students belong to the
Community Health Initiative by University Students (CHIUS) – a student run organization
whose purpose is to interprofessionally serve and co-learn with community members
of the Downtown Eastside.
UBC Nursing students have developed the Woundcare Workshop. The aims of this workshop
are to address questions community members have about wounds and educate them on
wound care and wound healing. At the same time there is an emphasis on the relational
aspect of care, where students learn about individual experiences of community members
by active listening during an informal interview. Students also equip individuals
with a mini wound care supply bag at the end of each session.
If you are interested in supporting this workshop or get involved as a volunteer
or mentor please contact the president of the Nursing Undergraduate Society at nus.president@nursing.ubc.ca.
