Distance and Online Learning

We know there is a lot of information to absorb when you are first beginning as a distance student in the School of Nursing. Just a handy hint, if you are having difficulty accessing information, you might find it at the UBC Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology’s ‘Your Guide to Distance Education – Learners’. There are also useful links provided to some important information to prepare you for online learning. If all else fails, contact the School of Nursing.

At UBC the online courses are delivered using WebCT. This is a course management system that allows you to access course materials, information about the course and the means to communicate with your classmates and instructors. After you have registered in your course you will access the course online using your Campus Wide Login (CWL) at the UBC eLearning site. You may have questions about what type of computer you will need or how to set up your computer for the course as well as other information about getting started as a distance student. This information is available in several places including the UBC Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology’s ‘Your Guide to Distance Education – Learners’ website or the UBC eLearning website.

Much of the required information is also compiled for you through the links provided.
